CM

The CM range was visually very similar to the CL, but was marked more by what was not there in the model line-up. Gone was the ute and the panel van; even the Charger was dropped, to the horror of car-people nationwide. After the Mitsubishi takeover of Chrysler Australia, Valiant production continued as the tooling was fully amortised and the model could be produced profitably in small numbers. The profit from the sale of one Valiant was around 3 times the profit from the sale of the hideous new Sigma. When the final Valiant rolled off the line on August 28, 1981, an assembly line worker wrote "Last Barstard" on the boot floor with his caulking gun.
